In around 1759, Joseph Fry began making chocolate and after years of merges, inheritances and acquisitions, ended up as J.S. Fry & Sons in 1822.
The Fry’s chocolate factory moulded the first ever chocolate bar for general consumption in 1847 and in 1866, the Fry’s Chocolate Cream bar was produced. Over 220 other products followed including the Fry’s Turkish Delight bar, Fry’s Peppermint Cream, Fry’s Orange Cream, Fry’s Five Girls and Fry’s Five Boys.
By 1919, Fry’s had merged with Cadbury and they are still producing Fry’s chocolate bars today.
