In 1911, Frank and Ethel Mars started making candy in their kitchen in Tacoma, Washington. In 1920, they produced their first chocolate, the Milky Way bar (aka Mars bar in Europe). The bar was a success and other famous brands have followed including Snickers (1930) and M&M’s (1930’s).
